Mentors

The exhibition Mentors – Ceramists and teachers in Belgium brings together nearly 70 ceramists on two cultural sites, Keramis - Centre de la Céramique in La Louvière, where the “pioneers” of the last century are exhibited, and the space of the Anciens Abattoirs de Mons (BeCraft) where ceramists active today are brought together.

BeCraft and Keramis are joining forces to offer an unparalleled dive into Belgian ceramics, from the evolution of its teaching to its place in art history. Entitled Mentors, the exhibition takes place at the Anciens Abattoirs de Mons and Keramis (La Louvière). It compares the teaching ceramists who have had as much impact on the history of ceramic teaching in Belgium as their artistic practice. Thanks to this partnership, this double exhibition aims to provide an unprecedented panorama of the practice and teaching of ceramics in Belgium from the 20th century to the present day. The central question of transmission is revealed in the form of a genealogy where past and present are articulated through a territorial network covering both the north and the south of the country.
