Rachel Labastie and Nicolas Delprat. The dark object of the brightest desires

She is a ceramist and sculptor, he is a painter. A couple in art and in life, sharing a studio in Brussels since 2011, Rachel Labastie and Nicolas Delprat have carte blanche this autumn at Keramis.

Born in Bayonne in 1978, Rachel Labastie creates sculptures and installations in which the presence of clay, whether baked or raw, is dominant. According to Marie-Laure Bernadac, her work is in ‘a transitory state of transformation, of metamorphosis, which makes us see and feel beyond the appearance of things’.

Born in Rennes in 1972, Nicolas Delprat is exploring the value of light in painting and its status as both subject and object throughout the history of art, from the invention of photography to that of the light object in contemporary art, notably through the installations of Dan Flavin and the environments of James Turrell. Experienced in this exercise since this is their sixth exhibition as a duo, the artists will be performing within an integrated scenographic device.

On the evening of the opening, you can enjoy Rachel Labastie's performance ‘Instable’ from 8pm.
