For the artist Icaro Maiterena, "making ceramics is a bit like dancing", entering into an energetic relationship with the natural material through direct and sensitive contact. By pressing with his hands and orchestrating the falling of clay blocks, the artist generates pieces formed of multiple folds. These folds, which evoke winding dirt roads and geological strata, translate the passage of time and gesture. Each piece becomes a "fossil", embodying the memory of skin-to-earth contact. The title Territorios en resistencia, beyond the physical concept of resistance, highlights the importance for the artist of contact with matter, which even becomes a political act in reaction to the virtuality and domination of the visual in our contemporary capitalist societies.
