For her project Terrellas, produced during her residency at the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres in 2020, Noémie Goudal conducted extensive research into the history of "theories of the Earth" with Gabriel Gohau, a historian of science and geology. The artist created fifteen porcelain models, each illustrating a scientific hypothesis, formulated from Antiquity to the present day, describing the formation of the Earth and its relief. One of them uses a suspension to suggest the idea that mountains are attracted by stars, developed by the 13th-century Italian scholar Restoro d'Arezzo. Astral energies, scientific culture, contemporary art, and ceramics thus intersect in this original project.
