This "rocaille" style food warmer, characterised by the fantasy of lines inspired by nature, notably gardens and artificial caves filled with shells, is made of tin-glazed earthenware. The dripping decoration is obtained from chromium and manganese oxides. The high concentration of iron in the earthenware makes it possible to reduce the thermal expansion coefficient of the material, making the warmer more resistant to heat. The presence of casters indicates a mobile use. It could be filled with embers then transported from one room to another, slowly redistributing the heat accumulated in its walls.
