A graduate in heritage restoration, Myriam Greff initially practised illusionist restoration of ceramics before specialising in kintsugi, a technique of Japanese origin literally meaning "gold joinery"—a way for the artist to offer a second life to pieces whose cracks, far from being defects, tell a rich and eventful story. Beyond restorations, Myriam Greff creates her own works from broken pieces. Her work is distinguished by the diversity of materials she uses to fill gaps (shagreen, églomisé glass, silk, bark, butterfly wing scales, etc.). The resulting object is not only repaired but also "augmented" with an original artistic intention and new materials.
