Anaïs Lelièvre lets herself be permeated by the landscape and by what emanates from mineral matter. She makes herself available to the signs that reveal, as she puts it, that "underneath, it's working". Her sensitivity to nature, and particularly to hostile spaces produced by telluric convulsions, was sharpened during numerous trips, notably to Iceland where she travelled in 2015 and 2019: the contrasts between the snow and the basaltic blackness of this island, which resembles a huge lava stone, gave rise to a feeling of losing her bearings; they have since fed her drawings and installations. Beyond this striking optical effect, the power of the subsoil made manifest on the surface of the Earth's crust directs the artist's gaze towards the mineral, which she experiences through ceramics.
